A Useless Dolphins Production

It has been a while kids, but welcome to the new semester. We are about to launch this site with all sorts of information that is going to make your brain explode. Lets start it off with a review of the awesome show that Alysa and I put on last week. We hosted a Independent Music and Art Exhibition, which featured some musicians and artists if you couldn't infer that from the title.

The show started off with Alkutezio, which is the solo effort from former Good Morning Reality, bassist Garrett. His solo work is pretty new and this show was his big debut in which he did quite the awesome job. You can check out some of his music at Alkutezio's Myspace

Next up we had Jon Crocker who is an indie-folk artist from Ventura, CA. Jon is traveling the country in support of his latest CD with little or no fanbase; but he gained a few new fans that night. There is no way that you couldn't be amazed by the talent this man showed during his 30 minute performance. Starting his set off by playing a mandolin, and walking around the room singing without a microphone was something that amazed the crowd. He then cut through 7 more songs that shared tales of his travels around the country without his beloved make shift box drum, which broke during the second song.

As you can see here, he solved this problem by inviting some crowd members up to play some unconventional instruments. Yours truly played a mean pipe, and the other kiddies played a tamborine, maraca, and egg beater/pan. Jon ended the show by once again playing the mandolin, and debuted a new song that was as he said, "about shoes". This man is no short of genius, and if he wanted to become a house hold name I do not think he would have a problem doing so. You can check out his website and buy some cds Here. He also has a myspace site with some songs on it that you can visit.

The show concluded with a local band that is no stranger to the area named Between Walls. Their gritty pop fused sound recalls bands such as Piebald and early Cursive. The crowd was not dissapointed as the band played their hearts out during their 10 song set. You can hear songs on their site.

The show also featured art from upper level students on the SUNY Oswego campus. Some of the art was a bit craaazy as you can see here, but it provided a very cool environment for the show.

We would like to thank anyone that played the show, helped put on the show, and most importantly, that came to the show.
